Il character creator (o schermata di modifica del personaggio) permette ai giocatori di definire l'aspetto del loro character in Ashes of Creation.[2]

Avremo una vasta gamma di modifiche già dall'uscita.[3]

Character appearance

Regolazioni del volto nel creatore del personaggio nell'Alpha-2 (prima versione).[6]

Sarà presente un'ampia possibilità di scelta nella creazione del personaggio, specialmente nel volto. Che si tratti della forma della mandibola, le guance, le orecchie, il naso, le labbra. Sapete che vogliamo offrire molteplici opzioni al giocatore di personalizzare il proprio personaggio.[7]Steven Sharif

Vogliamo che ci sia molta libertà per permettere alle persone di esprimere la loro identità, per giocare di ruolo come vogliono per quanto riguarda l'aspetto. Sarete in grado di gestire le proporzioni del viso, delle ossa, dell'altezza, larghezza e percentuale di massa grassa. Potrete aggiungere peli corporei in diverse parti del corpo. L'aspetto del personaggio può essere modificato nel creatore del personaggio (CC)[9] ed attraverso saloni/barbieri all'interno del gioco.[10][11]

  • I modelli dei personaggi sono realistici.[12]
  • Il giocatore vedrà un personaggio generico prima delle modifiche.[13]
  • I design dei personaggi avranno influenze di diverse culture, come quelle Europee, Africane e Asiatiche.[14]
  • Le "Loli" non saranno presenti nel gioco.[15][16]
  • Gli slider e altri modificatori, come le palette di colori, offriranno flessibilità nella personalizzazione ma ci saranno limiti dettati da razza, genere, e le linee guida artistiche concordate dagli sviluppatori. [17][18][15][19][20]
Gli slider avranno dei limiti, questa era una delle grandi domande una volta iniziato il lavoro sul creatore del personaggio: quanta possibilità vuoi dare nel permettere, per esempio, di spingere il labbro in basso fino a farlo deformare, oppure spostare una guancia in modo da rendere il volto asimmetrico. Non ci sarà la possibilità di creare quel tipo di personaggio. Nonostante questo si avrà la possibilità di muovere, cambiare, ingrandire, diminuire tutte queste parti, mantenendole più ragionevoli e considerate, nello stesso senso per cui non si avrà la possibilità di cambiare l'aspetto di un nano, né del Dünir né nel Niküan, per creare qualcosa che, in mia opinione, verrebbe considerato un personaggio Loli.[15]Steven Sharif

Cosmetic items

I Cosmetic items permettono ai giocatori di modificare i loro character all'interno del gioco.[3]

  • Colore degli occhi.
  • Colore della pelle.
  • Colore dei capelli.
  • Pettinature.
  • Tattoos.
  • Cicatrici.

Oggetti cosmetici che producono effetti cosmetici all'interno del gioco saranno disponibili.[49]

Dyeable items

Dyes only affect tagged portions of dyeable armor or cosmetic items.[50]

  • The dyeability of costumes depends on the specific costume.[50]

Outside of wanting to keep maybe some identity from a lore perspective; for example if you have like a white lion's suit of armor, you may not want that white lion suit of armor to be black or blue. So, it's possible. It depends on the costume itself.[50]Steven Sharif

Emoji

Emoji adds additional flare either for chat or character representation (social animations).[51][52][3]

Early access

Character page

There is no planned in-game functionality to leave personal notes regarding player characters.[54]

We don't plan to have in-game tools to provide that tracking. Instead you will be expected to track that yourselves.[54]Steven Sharif

A character sheet will be available closer to live launch that shows the following:[55]

  • What a character looks like.[55]
  • Successi and server firsts.[55]
  • Info on a player's class.[55]
  • Character's back story via journal entries (that are shared publicly by the player).[56][57]

You will have a unique homepage for each character and that homepage will be able to be customized by the user to display unique information. It will have a small out-of-game RPG component where you can construct background and traits and stuff like that.[57]Steven Sharif

The character page will be accessible in game by opening a browser through the UI.[56]

That's part of the character sheet desire for us which hopefully will be accessible in game as well by opening a browser through our UI where you can get back history of a character that that character has input themselves into journal entries that they may choose to share with others... The player can manage what info is shown on the character page.[55]

Character naming

Characters will have a first-name and an optional surname (last name).[58]

  • There is a minimum length of three for a character name.[60]
  • Special characters, including apostrophes and hyphens, are currently not allowed in character names.[61]

Character names will appear on the character sheet and optionally on the character website page.[62]

  • In-game a character's name is displayed above their head. This can be the first or last name.[62]

Tulnar

Tulnar character model concept art of the three base influences.[63]

There's a number of minor races and major races that all sought refuge within the Underrealm and we talked about how this particular player character race was going to have a pretty unique approach when it comes to character customization because with that background there comes different species influence in the race itself and we want players to be able to dial up or down those influences as they see fit between the humanoid, the simian or mammalian, and the reptilian influences; and as you dial those things up, your base body- if it exceeds a certain percentage threshold- will assume the form and stance of one of three primary types of influences that exist for the Tulnar. And now what you're going to see is those three distinct influences and you can be of course a hundred percent in one if you wish and you'll be very similar to what you're going to see here from the concepts; or you can mix-and-match and you can blend between the different influences.[64]Steven Sharif

The Tulnar race does not have sub-types. Instead, players will be able to significantly customize the appearance of Tulnar characters based on three base influences; or blend between these different influences.[64][65][66][67][68][69]

Gare are primarily humanoid in appearance.[70]

  • There are feline and bestial components that can be scaled up when creating a Tulnar character but Tulnar do not equal furries.[15][66]
  • Catgirl and Loli Tulnar are not able to be created.[15]
Tulnar do not equal furries, but there are definitely some bestial components that you can scale up when you're creating your Tulnar character, so you could max that setting I guess. Whether or not that would give you what you would think of as a furry, I guess it's going to be up to your interpretation of what a Furry is.[66]Steven Sharif
Q: Will character creator allow us to make Tulnar that might look somewhat like Kobolds from Pathfinder or DnD?
A: I wouldn't say exactly, but there's definitely elements of Kobolds that you could incorporate in a character creator with the Tulnar, yes.[72]Steven Sharif

  • Mammalian Tulnar may have snout features, fur and inverted knees.[73]
  • Reptilian Tulnar may have more circular eyes and head shape, and scaly skin.[73]

Racial skins

Racial skins enable a player to change their character's racial appearance.[74][75]

  • Racial skins transform the race of the character to that skin. The original racial appearance of the character is entirely replaced.[76]
  • Racial skins can be toggled on and off.[75]

You're changing your race over to that, which means that you won't look uniquely different if you were a Vek angel or a Human angel.[76]Steven Sharif

Racial skins are not costumes. This means that armor and character customization is possible on these.[77]

  • Skin color customization.[78]
  • Racial skins appear along with any costume appearances.[79]

There are plans to create other racial skins.[80]

  • Some potential future ideas include undead and werewolf (lycan) skins.[81]

Costumes

The costume cosmetics that are included in each month's pre-order set are indeed a full piece, and when you put it on it will cover your entire appearance. You will not be able to mix and match/toggle those pieces individually (other than your helmet) when you're wearing the entire costume. This is partially why there is a separate category for accessories - those are able to be worn/equipped on a more individualized basis, so you can mix and match to your liking![83]Sarah Flanagan

Armor appearance

We want to be realistic with the application of particular types of armor, such as plate armor. In this regard for the different sexes there's a fine line that has to be drawn between accentuating the form of the sex as well as making it somewhat realistic and actually applicable to the environment.[98]Steven Sharif

  • Armor will not be overly sexual in appearance.[98][100]
    I'm more of the mind that it wouldn't really serve a purpose to have bikini plate armor, just in like reality, if you're going to have armor, it should be protective. I think from a fashion statement is enjoyable for some people, but it's a an immersive issue.[99]Steven Sharif
    • Some armor and costumes will be more revealing than others, but there will not be nudity in the game.[102]
    There might be sliders, but there are not gonna be naked sliders.[102]Steven Sharif
Each race is getting its custom geo pieces, which then will share thematic components such as color palette, attachments, design filigree. Those types of things will get shared across the geo but generally you're going to see unique races with unique geo.[106]Steven Sharif
  • Cosmetici can be used by all races but there may be slight variations to make them work with the body builds of each race.[94]
  • Hair will likely be masked if helmet display is toggled on.[115]

Attachments

Attachments are able to be unlocked as flair pieces to armor to create a customizable look.[118]

  • There will be hundreds of attachments available ranging from a small clasp to the front plate of a breast plate.[118]

Modular armor

You can start to see like some of the components that we put together that we can mix and match and make new armors from. This is the base chassis for all of that.[119]Jeffrey Bard

Your base look for the character can be pretty boring, but what Steven gave us a challenge with from day one was to make sure even the base look, the t-shirt and pants, looked amazing... This is your zero character, if you will... Then you can go in and customize everything from the shoulder pads to the elbow pads, the belt that goes around them; do you want duel belts, you want to harness the clothes in the front. So every piece you see on here you can actually customize that at the front end. So what we do is we scale that up from zero, ten and twenty... We scale it up and we customize it; and then I want to really stress that each one of those looks as you progress is different. We're not just repurposing the same armor pieces. We're making unique sets that complement each other as you progress.[119]Mat Broome

Ashes of Creation Apocalypse will have three different armor themes: Plate, leather and robe.[120]

You can actually have three different types of themes: You have plate, you'll have leather and you'll have robe. So for every armor set that we're showing at each one of those tiers, you're actually gonna have nine unique looks to pick from.[120]Mat Broome
